I bought Macy her first rose. It was special to watch her take it and almost be embarrassed by the attention she was getting. I thought Macy would cherish this rose for the rest of her life, someday pulling it out to show it to her husband therefore raising the bar for her husband. WRONG – about an hour later I found the rose out of vase and the dandelions she had just picked from the back yard in the vase.
How often do we do this in our relationship with God, exchanging the beautiful rose (grace/eternal joy/Christ life) for the weeds in the backyard (sin/temporary pleasure/death).
