The biggest struggle in marriage can be allowing our feelings to dictate our actions toward our spouse. Our feelings toward our spouse can fluctuate depending on the day so it is important for us to learn to demonstrate love towards our spouse even if we don’t feel like it.
In Exemplary Husband, Stuart Scott reminds us that . . .
If positive feelings toward your wife have decreased or disappeared, it is most likely because you are not actively loving her as you should . . . Usually positive feelings will eventually follow consistent actions of true love. You demonstrate love in order to build love. (108)
Jesus was the perfect example . . .
In this is love, not that we have loved God but that he loved us and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins. (1 John 4:10)
