There are certain things I do for my wife that are important – Work a job to provide for the family, take care of the van/car, pay the bills . . . .
but the most important thing I can do for my wife is pray. Why? Because praying for my wife enables our relationship to move beyond the superficial to the supernatural.
I have found 3 areas to be essential in my praying for her . . .
1. Relationship with Christ – “Grow in grace and knowledge of Christ.” – Phil 3:10 – I pray for my wife’s relationship with the Lord to be strong. I believe if her relationship with Jesus is strong then it will make our marriage strong (the same is true for my own life).
2. Identity in Christ – “In love he predestined us for adoption through Jesus Christ.” (Eph. 1:5) I believe most women struggle with finding their identity in how they look or what they do so I want to pray that my wife will find her identity in Christ.
3. Strength through Christ – “He may grant you to be strengthened with power through his Spirit in your inner being.” (Eph. 4:16) Being a wife and mom is the hardest job in the world because it is 24/7. I need to pray for her to have the strength she needs to do what God has called her to do.
Husbands, let’s commit together to pray daily for our wives.
