What are the “big” sins in our lives?
Maybe ones to consider would be the lust of the flesh, lust of the eyes or the pride of life. These sins affect us on a daily basis but there is one sin I believe gets over looked that needs to be addressed. It is the sin of . . . COMPLACENCY.
Proverbs 1:32 says, “For the simple are killed by their turning away, and the complacency of fools destroys them;”
The sin of complacency is so destructive because it sneaks into our thinking. “Because we are doing (you fill in the blank) . . . . we are okay.” Then BAM our lives are destroyed by it.
I am challenged by this quote I read recently: “You do not need to hate Jesus to waste your life. You only need to be okay with how you are.” (Proverbs: Wisdom that Works by Ray Ortlund, Jr. )
Are you okay with how you are? May God grant us eyes to see when our hearts are “okay with how we are” and the grace and courage to move out of complacency.
